Local Collaborations


  1. HPV Vaccination Program
    • Partner: Public Health Research Institute of India (PHRII)
    • Purpose: Vaccinated 200 rural and peri-urban adolescent girls against HPV, supporting WHO’s cervical cancer prevention strategy.
    • Outcomes: Enhanced vaccination coverage, contributing to cervical cancer prevention.

  2. World Hepatitis Day Awareness Program
    • Collaborating Departments: School of Public Health and Department of Gastroenterology
    • Purpose: Raised awareness about hepatitis prevention and treatment with interactive sessions involving students, faculty, and healthcare professionals.
    • Outcomes: Increased awareness on hepatitis, contributing to better prevention and treatment practices.

  17. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) & Wellcome Trust (Sickle Cell Disease)

    Collaboration: JSS AHER has partnered with ICMR and the Wellcome Trust to focus on sickle cell disease (SCD) screening and management. The institution has also established a Centre for Training, Research, and Innovation in Tribal Health in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

    Outcomes: This collaboration has led to the development of screening and management protocols for SCD, especially in tribal populations. It has contributed to improved early detection and treatment strategies, as well as capacity building for healthcare professionals in managing the disease.


  18. Partnerships with National Health Mission (NHM)

    Collaboration: JSS AHER collaborates with the National Health Mission (NHM) for sickle cell disease management in Karnataka, where the institution plays an active role in policy development and implementation strategies.

    Outcomes: These efforts have enhanced the state's ability to manage and treat sickle cell disease through better diagnostic facilities, healthcare outreach programs, and improved community health practices in rural areas.


  19. Local Government & Health Centres

    Collaboration: JSS AHER actively participates in regional healthcare improvement through partnerships with local government health centers, focusing on providing primary healthcare services and medical education outreach.

    Outcomes:This collaboration enhances the accessibility of healthcare to rural populations and provides students with hands-on training in real-world healthcare settings, particularly in underserved areas.

  1. Indo-Swedish Conference on Air Pollution and Respiratory Toxicology
    • Collaborators: IIT Bombay, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.
    • Focus Addressing air pollution's impact on health.
    • Objective:Workshop on assessing cytotoxicity and reactive oxygen species.

  2. IAP Advanced Life Support Provider Course
    • Partner: Indian Academy of Pediatrics
    • Objective:Training 35 pediatric healthcare providers in advanced life support for pediatric emergencies.

  3. International Tuberculosis Conclave 2023
    • Collaborators: WHO, Emory University, Imperial College of London, and other global entities.
    • Purpose: Explore TB control strategies and share research on treatment, diagnosis, and policy improvements for TB elimination.

  4. Ambari Sickle Cell Disease Health Systems Project
    • Collaborators: Emory University, National Sickle Cell Organization, Vivekanand Girijana Kalyana Kendra.
    • Objective: Develop strategies for managing and eliminating Sickle Cell Disease with a focus on public-private partnerships.

  8. World Health Organization (WHO) & ICMR - Diabetes & Hypertension
    • Collaboration: JSS AHER has collaborated with ICMR-National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR), and WHO on the “Rapid Assessment of Continuum of Care for Diabetes and Hypertension in India.” This research played a key role in contributing to policy changes in the National Program for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NPCDCS).
    • Outcomes: The findings from this collaboration have led to a strengthened approach towards diabetes and hypertension care in India, improving early detection and care continuity for individuals affected by these conditions. It has also influenced policy changes within the National Program for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Stroke (NPCDCS).

  9. South Kazakhstan Medical Academy – Ayurveda
    • Collaboration: JSS AHER, in collaboration with South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, organized an international conference on "Exploring the Potential of Ayurveda in Promoting the Well-being of Humans, Animals, Plants, and Environment." Supported by the Indian Embassy in Kazakhstan, this event aimed to explore integrative health approaches using Ayurveda.
    • Outcomes:This collaboration has fostered international dialogue on traditional medicine's role in global health, particularly Ayurveda's contribution to holistic well-being. It also promoted cross-border educational exchanges and awareness of alternative medicine's potential benefits.

  10. Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Ethiopia – Indigenous Technologies
    • Collaboration: JSS AHER's TIFAC (DST) CORE in Herbal Drugs partnered with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Ethiopia, to conduct workshops on indigenous technologies, which include traditional herbal medicine and wellness practices.
    • Outcomes:The training programs led to increased knowledge sharing between India and Ethiopia, with the focus on sustainable health practices based on indigenous knowledge systems. This collaboration has contributed to global health empowerment and local capacity building in both regions.
